ST JAMES GATE
IMPROVING THE SENSE OF ARRIVAL, BRINGING IT UP TO DATE WITH A CONTEMPORARY DESIGN
Erected in 2006, 2 St James Gate is a multi-let office building of 82,500 sq ft situated close to Newcastle Railway Station. The project comprised Interior Architecture & Interior Design services associated with Palace Capital’s complete refurbishment of the building’s ground level main entrance hall providing an improved sense of arrival, commensurate with the similarly refurbished Grade A office space on the upper floors.
The scheme entailed a complete reworking of the space including structural alterations, bringing it up to date with a contemporary design visually connected with the lift lobby beyond. Materials and finishes included ceramic tile floors, hot rolled steel feature walls with bronzed brass inlay details, and a folded profiled timber ceiling were introduced, together with decorative elements such as bronzed brass mesh, a new reception desk with corresponding chandelier lighting and a new seating area.
