STUDIO POTTERY LONDON
“STUDIO POTTERY LONDON IS A SPECTACULAR, BEAUTIFUL NEW STUDIO. ARE WE AT THE BAUHAUS, OR THE WIENE WERKSTÄTE, OR IN CENTRAL LONDON? THIS IS A PLACE OF COMMUNITY - A WONDERFUL, EXPRESSION OF COMMUNALITY. POTTERY IS A CENTRAL ART ACCORDING TO GAUGUIN - POTTERY IS TRANSFORMATIONAL."
(Edmund de Waal, Ceramicist & Author)
Studio Pottery London, located adjacent to the vibrant wellness destination of Eccleston Yards in Belgravia, was designed to provide a permanent home for founders Lucy Attwood and Gregory Tingay. The collaboration between FLINT and Studio Pottery London, rooted in friendship and a shared passion for pottery, has cultivated a light filled, communal environment for all who are attracted to making with clay.
Dedicated to the teaching and practising of wheel-thrown ceramics, the interior design features a pared back palette of simple, elegant and importantly functional materials and finishes that sustain the art of making going on inside. A former car showroom, the space is divided into three parts with black framed glazed partitions and blonde plywood shelving creating separation between the various activities of clay throwing, turning, firing and teaching, including a kiln room and glazing area.
